It was your scent that made me glance your way. You had been in Irvine, CA, and I was on a mission from work when the spicy-over-sweet aroma snapped my head around and led me to your door. Our first physical interchange? It was the dark-chocolate-enrobed goat cheese and pear concoction ... and you had me at dark chocolate and pear! I spent far more on you than anticipated, and was drastically late for a meeting, but none of that mattered. As far as spur-of-the-moment flings go, this became a love affair.

The first time I tried Chuao Chocolatier chocolates, I was with my very good friend Joe. He had a box of chocolates from the wonderful Chuao Chocolatier, and upon me spotting them, he said, "My Dear, A TREAT you MUST try!" After placing a Cambur in my hand, Joe began to describe the flavors I was about to experience. I placed the Cambur in my mouth and closed my eyes. "Wow.....this----this is good!" Joe nodded his head, "Oh, it gets BETTER!" Better than that? You bet! After trying many of the chocolates, I was in love with the rich flavors and decadence of them all. Mix these with some gelato and a Spicy Maya Mocha and PAZAM!! NIRVANA. Chuao Chocolatier, I love you.

I always watch the Food Network. 90% of the time, the places they showcase are in NYC. Many of the chocolatiers are there as well. I was thrilled to be in the Forum shopping and see the sign for a chocolate cafe! It was such a treat to have REAL chocolate from a quality store that knew what they were doing with chocolate!!

It was incredible! I didn't know that such things as balsamic vinegar and hot spices could be applied in sweet chocolate in such delicious way! I was impressed, I'm not going to lie. The texture of the chocolate is so velvety, I could eat 100 of them!

Yes, I was attending a classical music concert downtown San Diego and there was a Chuao chocolate stand giving free chocolates and hot chocolate... I AUTOMATICALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!!! Your spicy hot chocolate was out of this world. I have never tried spicy chocolate before, what a surprise for my taste buds... I now buy Chuao chocolate often at Whole Foods and other stores and I also give it to my friends. I'm planning to take some to my relatives in Spain when I go visit this year!!!

We had heard about this place in Encinitas, so we stopped in. For some reason, I was intrigued to try the goat cheese truffle. It sounded awful, but whoosh! My taste buds wriggled with rapture. Then I tried the balsamic vinegar one. The flavor blend caused me to close my eyes in delight, and concentrate every nerve on sensuous taste. Later, at a wine pairing event, we were dared to take a bite of the Picante truffle and, at the same time, take a mouthful of port wine. The mind-blowing sensation was almost enough to cause me to crush my wine glass. The combination exploded against my palate, enrapturing my mind. My favorite party game now is to purchase a boxful of Picante truffles from Chuao, and give them to my guests with port. I LOVE seeing the expression on their face when they also partake of the incredible, wonderful, stunning flavor combination, which is so much more than the sum of its parts. Now that I've described this, I'm craving more...I'll be right there.

I heard about Chuao, then hunted you down in Encinitas (your only location at the time). I was fascinated by the interesting and different flavors of bonbons made, and had to try several. Of course, I've visited many times since to get some of my favorite bonbons (and ChocoPods). I also took your chocolate making class. Chocolate is the food of the gods, and Chuao does chocolate so well. The gods must be pleased!

I was strolling around San Diego casually shopping, I popped into a Chuao shop for something to drink. I tried the Winter hot chocolate and it was love from then on. I allow myself a special treat of a few special pieces of chocolate and a Winter hot chocolate. Some of my favorites are the Firecracker, the Cambur, the Chevere and the Pan Con Chocolate. Each piece tells its own wonderful story. Chuao chocolate is unlike any other.
